So many drugs exist today, from street drugs to recreational use to prescription and over-the-counter medications. They all affect anyone who uses them. Some give you an inebriated high and if overused and can lead to death. Drugs that were originally intended to cure an illness or disease are being combined to form an illegal substance. When it comes to curing the illness that was made by the drug, rehabilitation and programs are not always accessible to the public. It is still misinterpreted as to why the FBN fabricated such tales, as stated in â€Å"Cannabis: A History† by Martin Booth, which had people not believing in how bad drug use really was, and kept the epidemic of all drugs going. â€Å"Unwinnable†* had started to be quoted by many over this course in time. The 1961 UN Single Convention, which targeted drug use as an opportunity to take an honest stand regarding the War on Drugs. In America, the use of drugs skyrocketed after the Vietnam War, soldiers came home addicted to marijuana and heroin. America’s drug problem would resume getting worse from there. The struggle that we have had is that enforcement and the public regarding these laws and restrictions that have been put into place are constantly changing and being pushed in different directions. States in the US have their own restrictions per the state that person lives in, and laws can have a huge impact on the common man depending on what kind of drug that person is in possession of.
